Issues of District 77

Building Safer Communities

We live in a great city. However, the rise of crime in our neighborhoods is absolutely unacceptable. Our children deserve to play in their front yards without fear. Our families deserve to feel safe in their own homes. Too many politicians have ignored their duty to protect our city from violence. Eric Proctor is commited to putting our safety before the needs of special interest groups. The State of Oklahoma must lead the way in the fight to protect our families from drugs, violence, and sexual predators. Representative Proctor has worked to start neighborhood associations and neighborhood watch programs across House District 77 because he knows that an organized neighborhood where neighbors look out for one another is a safer place for families.

Investing in Quality Education

Compared to the rest of the country, Oklahoma consistently ranks at or near the bottom in education funding. Eric believes our children and our teachers deserve better than that. Having been raised by two teachers it did not take long for Eric to realize his calling. Prior to being elected, Eric taught high school history and government at a local alternative high school. Through addressing the needs of “at risk” students in our community, Eric Proctor has the experience of seeing students succeed when we care enough to invest in their futures. There is too much talk about supporting our teachers and students and not enough action. A vote for Eric Proctor is a vote for proven leadership in properly funding our schools, raising teacher salaries, and providing our children with the education they deserve.

Road and Bridge Funding

For years many parts of our city and county have been neglected by the state in the way of road and bridge funding. Bridges are literally crumbling under passing cars and falling onto the streets of our district. Rep. Proctor has received a rare placement by House leadership to serve on the Transportation Committee in his first term. Through working with members of both political parties, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, and our Federal delegation in Washington D.C., Rep. Proctor gave voice for the need to repair I-244 and the bridges that span the highway and worked to bring our tax dollars back home to Tulsa. Rep. Proctor believes the state must make a strong investment in roads and bridges to protect our citizens, bring new quality jobs, and improve our way of life.

Supporting our Troops and Veterans

“The men and women of Tulsa have a proud tradition of serving in our great nation’s military. It is my duty as a State Representative to provide support and care for our veterans, service members and their families that sacrifice so much for our freedoms”

-Eric Proctor

Representative Proctor was raised by a family with a strong military record who taught him of the sacrifice and dedication of our armed services.

Eric’s father proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1972. Eric’s Grandfather Proctor took up the call to arms in World War II and saw action in North Africa, Italy, and Germany. Eric’s other Grandfather, H.D. Hale served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on a mine sweeper ship and his Great-Grandfather served in the U.S. Army during World War I.

As a State Representative, Eric has

-Authored legislation to remove sales tax for Oklahoma’s disabled veterans and their spouses

-Authored legislation to honor the sacrifice and memory of those who gave their life in defense of freedom by awarding their children and spouses free tuition at Oklahoma’s intuitions of higher education

-Supported legislation removing state income tax for Oklahoma’s active duty military

As a Tulsan, Eric has supported

-The development of the Tulsa Veterans Treatment Court.

-The opening of the first veterans resource center at a college or university in Oklahoma at Tulsa Community College. This center helps the thousands of veterans, service members and family members that use VA Education benefits at TCC.

Demand Strong Immigration Reform

The federal government has failed to enforce our immigration laws. Eric Proctor is fighting to hold our congressional delegation’s feet to the fire to protect our border and encourage the United States Congress to do the right thing. Eric Proctor knows that we must hold employers accountable who break the law, put a stop to giving instate college tuition to illegal immigrants, create a new branch within the Oklahoma State Bureau of investigation to investigate ID fraud, and send a strong message to Washington that in Oklahoma we want a secure border and a government that enforces our laws.
